14 ½” overall . 9” round 24 bore barrels . With tower private proofs and Twigg London on rib. Engraved tang . Blade foresight. The bolted, stepped lockplate signed ‘Twigg’. Walnut fullstock . Flat sided Butt. Iron trigger guard with pineapple final & ramrod pipe, horn tipped ramrod with worm

John Fox Twigg was born at Grantham, Linconshire, in 1732 and apprenticed Edward Newton of Grantham (active 1718-1764), By 1755, Twigg working as a gunmaker from Angel Ct., Charing Cross until 1760 when he moved to 132 Strand, opposite Catherine St and continued at this address until 1776 .He moved again in 1776, this time to Piccadilly where he remained until his death in 1790.
