Ali Bhutto is an award-winning journalist based in Karachi, Pakistan. He has written for The Guardian, The Times Literary Supplement, The New York Review of Books, Guernica Magazine, The Spectator, Dawn, The Friday Times, Newsline Magazine and The Express Tribune.
In February 2020, Ali won two All-Pakistan Newspapers Society awards for ‘Best Feature’ (A Forgotten Kingdom) and ‘Best Cover Story for Periodicals’ (Chinatown).
Ali previously worked as an Assistant Editor and staff writer at Newsline Magazine. Prior to that, he worked at the Op-Ed desk of The Express Tribune. Between 2007 and 2009, he worked as an Assistant Editor at Oxford University Press, Pakistan.
Ali has conducted independent research on colonial Sindh at the Sindh Archives, with focus on the Shikarpur Collectorate between 1848 and 1901, and Larkana District between 1901 and 1931.
