    Entered active duty in July, 1943 and in December, 1943, entered Aviation Cadet Training at Tuskegee Army Air Field, Alabama. Graduated as a single engine pilot in September, 1944. In February, 1943, was assigned to the 99th Fighter Squadron, 332nd Fighter Group at Ramitelli, Italy, where he flew 21 combat missions over Germany in P-51 aircraft. In 1950, while assigned to the 19th Bomb group on Okinawa, he flew 45 combat missions over Korea in B-29 aircraft. In 1970, he flew 70 combat missions in Vietnam in AC-119K gunships. His decorations include the DFC, The Air medal with 11 OLC, and the Commendation Medal with 1 OLC.
