Fun with Winamp
While I am busy installing new processors (wetting my pants because afterward the PC doesn’t work anymore), getting utility software I didn’t suspect the existence about and wasting time with really funny little games, some sort of computer epiphany happened below my unbelieving eyes. In very poor words I’ve downloaded and adopted the last version of Winamp, once again choosing it as the predefined player for running everything is music and discovering that now MilkDrop profits by the graphic card shaders for a visual experience that’s difficult to replicate otherwise.
Alright it’s a nonsense but up to this point I was using a pretty old version of Winamp (5), while with the 5.57 one my favorite graphic visualizer brings sound landscapes I wasn’t accustomed to. The use of Pixel Shaders version 2.0 renders techno-lysergic wonders between organic twists and mechanical dawns, space fractals, dancing tree-shaped equalizers – you name it. It’s really a nice surprise, at least for myself. I’m attaching some casual screenshots (including names of the running graphic presets) for non-Winamper‘s sake below, even though I don’t think they can give that much idea of the dynamism and visual cornucopia of the experience…
